Suffolk Public Schools staff celebrated the artistic achievements of Kilby Shores Elementary students Channing Douglas and Hannah Parker, who designed official SPS logos for the Suffolk Public Schools Food and Nutrition Trucks. The students, alongside their families, hosted an artist signing event to commemorate their creative contributions. Kilby Shores Art Teacher Angela Salerno, expressing immense pride in her former students, shared insights into the art contest that led to their victory. The contest, conducted as a lesson in Talented Art, involved studying advertisements and creating impactful contest submissions. After thorough critique sessions and refinement, the students' artwork was submitted, leading to their unexpected win. Salerno commended the initiative by SPS Food and Nutrition, highlighting its effectiveness in promoting both nutrition and the arts. She expressed joy at reconnecting with her students, who have since moved on to Middle School, fulfilling her earlier promise to see them and their art again in the future.
