Food truck enthusiasts in the Roanoke Valley are in for a treat. A new food truck lot, 4th Street Eats, is set to open in the city. The brainchild of John Johnston, the lot aims to bring a diverse culinary experience to the community.
Featuring parking, seating, and bathrooms, 4th Street Eats plans to host eight to ten rotating food trucks. “Our mission is to enrich the local community by providing a dynamic food truck lot that brings together diverse culinary experiences,”
Construction is expected to start within two months, with the grand opening following shortly after. Johnston's Savory Ventures Salem LLC purchased the 0.28-acre lot from the city for $88,500.
Local food truck owners are excited about the new venture. Dennis Beeput of Countryman Jamaican Grill and Brent Bowles of Big Daddy's BBQ, who will also manage the lot, see it as an opportunity to reach new customers and offer diverse food options.
The city of Salem is equally enthusiastic about the project. Economic Development Director Tommy Miller views food trucks as a platform for local entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, potentially leading to brick-and-mortar locations within the city.
With its focus on variety and community, 4th Street Eats is poised to become a popular destination for food lovers in the Roanoke Valley.
